The 'stache has developed nicely over the past weekish. I'm happy about with it.
Also, today was GORGEOUS outside. As a result I took my shirt off, rolled up my pants, and went skateboarding. It was probably the best feeling ever, just in case you were wondering. To illustrate the awesome here's a vid I put together just before winter. I'm excited for another summer of this!
Surviving the college experience often depends upon ones ability to cope with external stressors. Whether that be a mid-terms, piles of papers to write, or large projects that are overly difficult for the number of points that they are worth. In my case it's all the above, plus some. I've found that the best way for me to cope is to start by drawing something for fun, then watch hilarious/awesome videos, then browse the /r/funny section of reddit. Here's my success in said pursuit:
Some of you may have recently noticed the beauty of the mustache that I am currently growing. It is strong! It is magnificent! And I am keeping it as a symbol of my kiss-free-status as long as I can say that I remain kiss-free. That's right! So until that day comes be prepared to bask in the beauty that is the mustache.
And for all you naysayers out there, I would like to prove that mustaches are synonymous with glory as evidenced here (these were my favorites, but feel free to browse this collection of greatness): Tom Selleck James Franco William H. Macy
So what am I going to be doing in the meantime (arrayed in all my mustached glory)? Following this flowchart:
The Lumber Jack! An AWESOME unlockable playable character. You might be asking: Where are his arms? I would answer you, he needs them not! His ginger beard of glory is mighty enough to wield weapons on it's own!
Wow! This thing is coming together! More characters are coming! I promise! Until then, we've got the icon and multiplayer connection screen coming together nicely.
Look who's got a shiny new icon!!
I think I'll change the yellow background into the yellow sunburst featured below.
Sorry. I'm working on some side stuff right now so game dev has been slow. Here's the sketches of the coming characters to tide you over. I think I'm going to change the viking a bit.
So I've decided that if I ever write my memoirs I'll title it "An Abundance of Catherines." I think it's pretty inventive. Plus it seems like every event I've attended over the last 3 weeks has AT LEAST 2 Catherines in attendance. Last night at blues dancing was no exception. That or I could name it "The Man Forced To Listen To Andrew Bird." That would be equally descriptive of circumstance.
Anywho.... We went Malawhi Pizza last night. SO good. It's expensive, but it's good.
And in the off chance that you've forgotten.... SUCKERPUNCH!!!! IT'S COMING. It's Coming. it's coming. Enjoy the bored-in-class sketch and the awesome animated short.
So I realized that this creepy head is scarily reminiscent of the old Disney movies that would have the Mickey Mouse head as a transition element. As I pondered on this fact I realized that the problem was not with my adorable zombie! Nay! The problem is that Disney used such creepy transitions!!
Anyways.... Tappable zombie heads!! Yes Please!!
The head color is dark because he's currently being "tapped"
Well... this first piece certainly has nothing to do with rising from the ashes... but I liked it. It was a blind contour drawing. What does rise from the ashes of new birth? XCODE!! Well I guess it didn't die, but it sure looks nothing the same as it did. And if you're wondering, it's totally worth the $5 price tag. And, in case you were wondering, yes, this means that the real coding starts now! Game on! Or... a.... Game coming soon!
Also. Phoenix Gold rises from the ashes! He doesn't show up in this episode, but it wouldn't make sense for me to start you anywhere but episode 1.
Here's an awesome test! Let me know if you are, in fact, awesome. If you are awesome also let me know which option made you awesome (this could affect your level of awesome).
1) This is awesome. If you don't know why, you're probably not awesome:
Washington Zombie Boss!! Can you defeat your founding father???
2) If you don't understand this, you're not awesome:
3) Final chance. If you don't understand why this is awesome, you're definitely not awesome:
Here's the loading dock from our arena game! Here's where the truck dumps you out to fend for yourself and get the supplies! Good luck all you would be heroes!!
Sorry for the electic posts lately! I've just been all over the place lately and I'm trying to keep ya'll up to date with what's happening with me.
First off, I don't like being told to try something artistically different. Well... I do.... I just don't like feeling like I'm bad at while I'm doing it! In the end I suppose the growing is worth it, the hard thing is actually getting me to try something different.
[realism isn't really my thing]
[I don't like thinking about my appearance]
[wine and pottery is pretty cool]
[I was okay with the looseness of this one]
I hope you've been enjoying the music videos with every post. They tend to be what I was listening to while working on the art (I realize they still don't seem terribly related). I'd also enjoy any feedback anyone out there has for, both on what you've liked/haven't liked in posts, as well as techniques in illustrator (or art in general). I love it, but it's still new to me.
